We offer a complete range of laboratory filtration products, from filter papers and membranes to syringe filters, capsules, microplates, and filter vials. Whatman filters are world-renowned as a standard for laboratory filtration and are associated with quality, reliability, and reproducibility. Products such as our ready-to-use glass fiber filters, for determination of suspended solids in water, or our Mini-UniPrep G2 filter vial, for preparing multiple HPLC/UHPLC samples simultaneously, help you obtain higher quality results in less time.

Filtration is one of the most common techniques used in the laboratory to purify or concentrate samples. It can be used for many applications such as sample clarification before analysis, mobile phase filtration, membrane-based microbiology, sample sterilization, or particle sampling before analysis. Our Whatman filters are used in a wide range of areas such as quality testing in the pharmaceutical industry and in the food and beverage industry, but also in research and in environmental monitoring.

  • Filter Papers and Membrane Filters

We offer a complete range of cellulose filter papers, glass and quartz fiber filters, and membrane filters. Cellulose filter papers enable filtration of larger particles (up to 25 µm), while glass and quartz fiber filters combine fast flow rates, high loading capacities, and retention of very fine particles (0.7 to 2.7 µm). Membrane filters are recommended for retention of very small particles or for microbiological purposes. Our membrane filter offering includes pore sizes from 0.015 to 12 µm.

Whatman filter papers and membranes are world-renowned as a standard for laboratory filtration and are associated with quality, reliability, and reproducibility. Flat filters are widely used for general sample filtration in various fields such as quality control, environmental monitoring, and research. Sample filtration is usually either for particle removal or for particle/precipitate collection prior to analysis.

  • Capsule Filters

Our Whatman Polycap capsule filters are available in three sizes with effective filtration surface areas ranging from 500 to 1500 cm2. Capsules are available with membranes such as PES, nylon, PTFE, and non-woven polypropylene and glass fiber depth medias. Carbon Cap also contains activated carbon for organic absorption. The capsules are available with a variety of end fittings such as different size hose barbs and both male and female threaded connections. Sterile and non-sterile options are also available.

Whatman Polycap capsule filters are recommended for filtration of large volumes of liquids or gases. Pleated cartridges provide large membrane surface area within a compact capsule housing for high throughput and high flow rates. A wide selection of media provides efficient filtration solutions such as removal of larger particulates with depth filter media or removal of bacteria through membrane filtration.

  • Syringe Filters and Syringeless Filters

GE Healthcare offers an extensive range of syringe filters and syringeless filters. Our syringe filters come in different diameters, pore sizes, and membrane types. Choose between sterile or nonsterile versions with or without prefilters. Our syringeless filters include Mini-UniPrep filter vials that function as both filter and HPLC autosampler vials, UniPrep which is a combined filter and storage vial, and Autovial which is an integrated filter and syringe.

Syringe filters and syringeless filters are primary choices for analytical sample filtration. Syringe filters are syringe-coupled filters, while syringeless filters are self-contained filter devices that do not require a syringe. Choosing the correct type of filter device for your application allows you to speed up and simplify your filtration step.

  • Filtration Microplates and Accessories

GE Healthcare’s UNIFILTER Filtration Microplates encapsulate the filter media by a process that reduces crosstalk and/or contamination between wells. This technology allows us to use a variety of Whatman filter media to meet a variety of application requirements. The drip director design of UNIFILTER microplates ensures precise collection of the filtrate. UNIFILTER Filtration Microplates are available in several well formats and well volumes.

Our UNIPLATE Collection Microplates for collection and analysis are available in various well formats.

The design of Whatman Filtration Microplates allows for a large number of applications. Disciplines such as sample preparation, genomics, and filtration-based assays are served by the multiwell approach to filtration technology. Some core applications include sample clean-up, cell-based immunoassays, isolation of nucleic acids, and compound library generation using parallel synthesis procedures.

  • Microbiology Filtration

GE Healthcare offers a broad range of high-quality Whatman products for microbiological filtration. The range encompasses the MBS I filtration system—an optimal choice for membrane filtration applications, the MicroPlus cellulose nitrate membrane range, and the mixed cellulose ester ME range which includes the improved recovery rate ME25 select membrane format.

GE Healthcare provides a wide and versatile range of Whatman filtration products suitable for filtration-based microbiology which consistently deliver high-quality performance and results.

  • Other Filtration Devices

We offer in-line filters for gas and liquid filtration. Additionally, we offer specialized filters for protection of your vacuum pumps and systems, helping to confine and isolate contaminants to prevent them from entering your laboratory environment.

Our filtration devices are used for a wide range of applications in the laboratory or for sampling in the field.
